I had the great experience of going through basic training and language school with a great group of gals. We were studying different languages (Russian, Chinese, and Persian Farsi) but we still got to spend a year in Monterey together and made some really good memories.
When we hit our one year anniversary of joining the Air Force, we had to celebrate! We got all dressed up and hit one of the fancy downtown restaurants for the evening. Oh my goodness, we look so young!! These were taken 12 yrs ago.
I think that only one of us is still in the service.

Hey look, I’m in that picture… I must be one of those great gals! Jen, I have to tell you, you are one amazing lady and I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to call you a friend. You are “uber” intelligent and your abilities to learn languages has amazed me. The fact that you home school five children at one time, speaks of your boundless piles of patience! You are so artistic (I know, you can’t draw like your sister… but you take some amazing photos and you can write down everyday things and make them sound so interesting). I am constantly in awe of your accomplishments. I have not taken time until this early morning to read some of your blogs, but I have just spend two hours poring over your last year. I wanted to say more than “hey, what a cool blog”. I want you to know that what you are posting is going to give your kids something great to look back on. Wish we lived closer so some of your initiative would rub off on me!!! And, “hey… cool blog!” Miss ya girl!
