MilSpouse Friday Fill-In: #38

  1. How many pets do you have? And what type? submitted by Life and Times of a Displaced Jersey Girl We currently only have a couple of green anoles – which my kids caught outside.  I had lots of pets growing up (dogs, cats, birds, goats, rabbits, a pig, a pony, etc.) but I can’t imagine moving and traveling and having to deal with a pet.  5 kids are enough for me right now.  Once we’ve retired and settled down, then we’ll probably get a dog or cat or both.:)I don’t know how all of you military families who have pets do it.  The transporting of animals when you PCS, finding someone to watch them when you want to take leave, etc.  I am just not up for that kind of hassle right now.
  2. What are your favorite projects to do while hubby is away? submitted by my-inspired-nest Definitely genealogy.  I do that even when he’s here, but not as much as I’d like.  When he’s gone, I tend to stay up late and work on it while the kids are sleeping.
  3. What are the must-haves in your deployment care packages?  submitted by Christine’s Little Blog Definitely letters and art projects the kids have done.  They seem to mean the most.  Also, favorite books and magazines.  And snacks.:)
  4. If you could star in any TV show, which would it be? submitted by Just a Girl I’m a nerd, so it would probably be a Masterpiece Theatre movie.:)
  5. What was the biggest hurdle that you faced during your/your significant other’s first deployment? submitted by The Pavlik Perspective Amazingly enough, I’ve only had to go through one deployment in 12 years of marriage (besides his tour to Bosnia while we were dating).  Right after 9/11 when Andy’s unit was getting ready to deploy, he got orders to become a Drill Sergeant and spent three years doing that and then another year as a First Sergeant at a TRADOC unit – which meant no deploying.  Our first year-long deployment was while we were stationed in Alaska.  It was a hard place to be left for a year with five little kids.  The weather was extreme (we went an entire week while he was gone, where it didn’t get over negative 40 degrees) and we owned a house there, which meant that I had to deal with home repairs.  Not fun.

Funny, we both have Bosnia stories in our #5! I’m dealing with some media issues in my GeekMom world and it reminded me of a (different) Bosnia story. And until 3 days ago, I had a Bosnia picture on my FB profile pic!

Great questions this week!

I love Masterpiece Theater! I actually DVR them each week so I can watch when I have time.

Have a great weekend :)
