The Beach Without the Water, the Mountains Without the Snow

White Sands National Monument is a magical place.  The gypsum sand there is gorgeous and feels great between your toes {at least it does in February – I’m sure you’d burn yourself in the summer}.  It feels so weird to me to be in sand like that without the waves crashing in nearby.

So, what do you do instead of playing in the water?  Why, sledding of course.:)

We went back to White Sands this past week and the kids had an absolute blast.  The pure joy on their faces was priceless.  Nick and Tori especially had boundless energy.  They’d sled and then scamper right back up the sandy hill again, ready for more.  And more.  And more.

Have you ever been sledding in the sand??

Wonderful post. You can just see the joy on their faces. So magical and fun. I’ve never been sledding on sand but I think I might like it.
