Katie is my shy kid. She doesn’t like being up in front of crowds – it makes her very uncomfortable.
When I signed her up for the chime bells class at homeschool co-op, she was okay until she found out they’d be having a small performance at the end of the semester in front of the moms and the other kids.
She feigned sickness the morning of the performance, but I wasn’t buying it. I knew that she needed to do this to overcome her fears.
And I’m happy to report that she did great!! (and she sticks her tongue out when she’s in deep thought. It’s hereditary!)

Congratulations! Way to go Katie!!!!
Way to go, Kate. I started with chimes in 2003 and advanced to bells very soon. Then I ended up playing in four bell choirs (at my advanced aged of over 70).
Now I play four-in-hand bells with the premiere group in the West Valley of Phoenix. Believe in yourself.
Shaz, thanks for the encouragement!! She really enjoyed herself when she got past being nervous about everyone watching her.
Kudos to your daughter for carrying on and overcoming her fears.
I recall in High School dropping out of FHA Club (Future Homemakers of America) when I found out that on Initation Night I would have to walk across the stage and say my name out to the audience.
Love her “Concentration” look!
