Relax

I know that I’ve been pretty scarce on here, but that was a really busy couple of weeks!!

It started off with my laptop dying.  Crashed and burned.  After a few days I gave up and bought a new desktop.  Then of course I had to re-install everything and get it all set up.  Time consuming and oh so annoying.

Then my in-laws came to stay with us for a week or so.  It was great having them here.  We had some late-night card games and a lot of laughs.

And Andy got frocked to E-9. His dad and I got to pin his new rank on.

We watched all of our international friends receive their badges at a special ceremony. It was really special.

Then Andy graduated from the Academy.  Finally!!  Here he is, shaking hands with the Sergeant Major of the Army as he gets his diploma.

Then we had to take our friends from Estonia to the airport. :(  We’re so sad to see them go.  They’ve become like family to us.  We definitely have plans to visit Estonia in the next few years.

We then watched our entire neighborhood pack up and move away.  We had to say goodbye to so many good friends.  It’s like a ghost town here.

Then Andy had his change of responsibility into his new unit.  Did you know that the incoming Sergeant Major is responsible for the reception afterwards?  Yep, I was baking cookies like a crazy person for a few days.  I don’t want to see anything sugary for a very long time.

All of the ceremonies and functions are done with.  Andy’s parents left yesterday morning and I have a quiet day full of laundry and cleaning ahead of me.  Back to real life.

Tonight, I ‘m going to relax.

Congratulations on surviving these past couple crazy weeks! That was us about a year ago, when Dave took command of his squadron (allow me to add here that while the USAF “squadron” is the same level of command as an Army battalion, he has much fewer people under his command). And yes, the newbie gets to put on the reception afterwards in the AF also :-) The pictures are great, too!
