Homecomings are such an emotional, happy time. I’m thankful that I haven’t had to deal with a deployment in the past few years. I know that I’m one of the lucky few.
I have photographed three homecomings this past week and even though I don’t personally know any of these people, I can’t help but get teary-eyed seeing the sweet reunions. Especially the surprised little kids seeing their dads or moms again after such a long year.
I’m not sharing anyone’s personal pictures here, but I will share a few of the generic ones.
I sorta envy the way that the Army does this en mass. I just drop my husband off at the airport and pick him up again. No big group support. No huge bunch of spouses facing it with me. Just us. I’m sure it has it’s disadvantages too but I do wish I had some friends facing it with me. All my pals just got their husbands back and I feel like I’m just getting started. Thank goodness for blog buddies who are facing it “with” me..
I agree that it’s easier going through a deployment as a group. So sorry that you are having to do it alone!!
The excitement and energy at the homecomings is AMAZING!!! I find myself tearing up and this isn’t even my husband’s unit. Let me know if you need anything or are ever down this direction and want to do something.
