Cock-a-doodle-do!!

My parents recently got 30 chickens and lucky for us they started laying eggs a few weeks before we arrived to visit.

The kids went out to the chicken coop every morning and collected fresh eggs.

This is Waldo.  He’s a loner. The chicks don’t dig him.  Maybe it’s because he has a crooked beak.

This is Romeo.  He is definitely the dominant rooster.  I don’t think the hens like him, but they listen to him.  And he has a lot to stay.  I was under the mistaken assumption that roosters crowed early in the morning.  He crows all day long.

The chickens eat well, because they have a garden right next to their coop.  They get the leftovers.

My sister is braver than I am.  She caught a hen for the kids to pet.  You have to do it when the rooster isn’t around, or he gets MAD.This is why I don’t touch the chickens…

They don’t sit still.

Those are striking chickens with the black and red colors. The one with the crooked beak is very interesting. My favorite shot wasy our last shot. The look on your sister’s face is priceless.
