Like a lot of families out there, we have a yearly tradition of making a gingerbread house. Except we don’t buy one of those kits from the store. And we don’t usually bake gingerbread either (although I think we tried it one year).
We use graham crackers and royal icing and lots of different candies for the decorations…

Andy is always the mastermind behind the project. He’s good at building things out of wood and that talent transcends into the candy world as well.
If I was left as the architect, we’d all be in trouble. The kids would be decorating a heap of crackers.
Thankfully, every year Andy makes the mini graham cracker mansion, usually with a fence and some outbuildings. When the icing has hardened, the kids start decorating.

Usually, we display the house for a while. Day after day, I notice pieces of the house start mysteriously disappearing. This year I just gave in after 2 days and let the kids dig in.![]()

Wow, that is amazing!
We loved seeing all the Christmas scenes in candy and frosting. Grandpa & Grandma Woods.
