Alaska

We were stationed at Ft. Wainwright (in Fairbanks) and lived in North Pole, Alaska for three years.

Both of us had always wanted to visit Alaska, so we jumped on the chance to get stationed there.  It’s one of those places that is hard to visit.

While, I thoroughly enjoyed our experiences, it was a long three years.  The winters are long, cold, and dark and it wasn’t the place I wanted to be left during a deployment.  By the third winter, I was really ready to PCS to a place with warmer weather.
