Homeschool Room

Our homeschooling set-up is constantly changing.  Not only has the number of children and books in our homeschool increased exponentially over the years, but we’ve lived in 5 different homes since Ellie started kindergarten (and 3 more before she started school!).

In two of our homes, we were lucky enough to have actual rooms dedicated to nothing but homeschooling.  They were small rooms, but it was a nice to have all of the stuff out of the way nonetheless.

Our current home has a very open floor plan and only one living room.  School has to be done in the dining room.  And our dining room looks kind of like a library.  But books are beautiful, so I don’t mind.

I conceded to hanging a small dry erase board on the wall, although I really didn’t want to.  When it came down to it, I had to admit that we use it ever day and it has to stay – ugly as it is.

Even though we don’t have a homeschool room, we do have a closet.  It contains a very large filing cabinet, a bookshelf full of manipultives, puzzles, and flashcards, 3 art carts, and a few sets of drawers.

I’ve just stumbled upon your site. I am in love with your dining room! It’s just beautiful, and I envy the set up you have. I was homeschooled growing up and have recently started to homeschool my two boys ages 8yrs and 10yrs old. Should have done it from the beginning but, try not to think about it. :)

I am set up in the porch of my parents house. It’s temporary until I move but it works. :)
