Curriculum 2012-2013

This coming school year is going to be a bit different than the past 9 years of our homeschooling journey.  It will definitely be harder for me.

This year, I’ll have kids in all different levels – from kindergarten through high school.  Tori will be starting K and Ellie will be starting 9th grade.  Phew!  I break out into a sweat just thinking about it.  The scheduling.  The grading of high school level work.  The time consuming hours spent with a new reader.  Fitting it all into each day and still keeping the house clean and kids fed.  How on earth am I going to do it?

Thankfully, my oldest is a very independent worker.  I just need to make sure that I carve out time to have history and literary discussions and to give her feedback on her assignments.  I’m thinking that  – a once a week Starbucks date might work for that. :)

The younger 4 will be doing history and science together, on their own levels.  I find that keeping them on the same topics for these subjects makes my life a lot easier – and they have more fun doing it together.

Here are some reviews on our curriculum, past and present:

Hi,
I have been following your website for a while…I am a first year homeschooling mom currently living overseas. I have 4 kids and am trying to manage homeschooling, keeping my house clean as well as keeping the kids fed as well. How do you do it all? I am in week 3 of homeschooling and still trying to figure it all out, even after reading countless books…

Jen - September 3, 2012 - 2:16 am

I don’t think any of us have it all figured out. There are definitely different seasons in homeschooling as life is always changing – different surroundings, different aged or number of kids, etc. Just keep with it and you will get yourself into a groove. Once you have your rhythm, it will become second nature.
